improving the region's transportation system
As Holt District continues to grow, we need transportation system to support it.
The strength of any region is based upon its' transportation system. As Holt District grows, we need to ensure our network of roads, highways and public transportation meets the needs of our growing region. The previously announced HDHIP project is a start, increasing access to the western and southern portions of the region. But we need to keep going.
Developing a Region-Wide Transit System
Currently, the region is serviced by an elevated rail system that serves Sherkston and the surrounding cities. As part of this plan, the region will launch a region-wide transit system. Options currently being explored include an extension of the current elevated rail system, the introduction of subway in the "urban centre" of the region, and high speed rail serving major destinations and to the surrounding regions.
The Region is also working with the Orchidsen Provincial Government to formulate plans for other possible transportation systems.
Making Sure That Highways Meet Our Need
With 2 new highways set to soon open, and another set to begin construction, we need to make sure our highways meet our needs. That is why the region is evaluating any other possibly necessary highways, highway interchange, and highway widenings. This portion of the project is largely focused on using the existing, or soon to be existing, infrastructure.
Local Roads - Creating Region Wide Access
Currently the region is largely developed only in the eastern portion of the region. As the regions begins its outward expansion council will look at improvements to existing arterial roads, and the creation of new ones if need be. New roads may also be considered for LRT systems in the region.
